About Sophie
Sophie Atwood is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who especially enjoys supporting clients through periods of growth, change, and transition. Having benefited from therapy herself as an adolescent, she understands firsthand how overwhelming these years can feel and how important it can be to have the right support.
Sophie keeps her practice intentionally small so she can get to know each client as an individual. She values genuine relationships and encourages clients to be honest about what’s difficult and what they hope to change. Her goal is to create a space where each client feels seen, understood, and supported.
Sophie earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from New York University and has extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She completed her pre-licensure training at McLean Hospital’s 3East Program, where she worked with adolescents and their caregivers, led therapeutic skills groups, and contributed to the development of a DBT curriculum. She later continued her clinical work at Boston Child Study Center, where she provided DBT and CBT to adolescents and young adults experiencing a range of challenges, including anxiety and depression.
Outside of her work, Sophie loves spending time with family and friends, staying active, and being by the water.
